It snows in Heaven

This morning I was drinking my morning coffee (awesome life), and then I looked at the window... EVERYTHING WAS WHITE ! I almost choked on my coffee... In fact it already starded to snow yesterday evening but I didn't notice because I stayed in my room.

And I must say that snow in Finland is really wonderful, even without Finland is an absolute beautiful country, but with snow is just... woahhh ! It's definitely Santa Claus' country ! And I'm only in the very south of Finland...  I can't imagine how it is in Lapland ! I really have to go there !

So if you're not in Finland, here is some photos for you to see what you're missing (yeah, I'm really sadist ;))

The first picture I took this morning, it was still a bit dark, it's even more beautiful :)

Welcome to Finland :)

 Evening picture

I will try (I said "TRY") to take some nice photos of the countryside, if I do I will put them here :)

Dear Turku :)

Thank god I live near Turku, because even if Paimio is a very nice town and everything, there's not so much to do... (except to go to Siwa everyday).

So, you know how it works in Finland, here "big city" means "not so big in fact" or "hey, what did you expect ?".
But it's nice in some way because in Turku all interesting things (shops, restaurants, bar, cafe...) are in the center, so you don't have to walk a lot or to take everytime the bus to go somewhere...

Here is the kind of stuff you can do when you're in Turku :

First, you can visit Turku's beautiful cathedral :)

 Heaven in Turku *.*
I'm actually searching for a fucking/awesome/gorgeous/but not too expensive/new guitar !

Honeslty... those guitars are absolutely AWFUL !

So, French specialities on the left, and Italian specialities on the right...
Thanks, now I double feel homesick...

And after all of this, you can rest in a café and enjoy a Korvapuusti :)
(wouhouh ! I finally remember this fucking name)
My life changed when I discovered this... I don't know how I could live without before...

Paimio

Paimio is the place where I live. It's a town of 10 000 habitants. So this is not very big, but anyway there is absolutely EVERYTHING ! Several supermarkets (I counted 4 ! At least I will not die of hunger), swimming pool, library, cinema, sport center, café, bar (this one is very important)... And in additional, I'm 30 km far from Turku, which is one of the biggest city in Finland (in fact Turku is not so big, but I will talk about this an other time ;)).

I think Paimio is a really nice and peaceful place to live, one of the things I like the most is the calm. I heard several times that Finland is a country for people who wants to be alone, I understand why now. And I must say that I love it. I love walk around while listening music and enjoy Finnish country side (and Finnish drunks sometimes).

So here are some pictures I took to introduce you Paimio :

First of all, Siwa, one of the 4 supermarkets. This one is just in front of the school, and I go there almost everyday... Now I'm friend with all the cashiers.

The cinema ! I didn't go yet, but apparently it's a very old one, so I have to try it !

Church's entrance

The church

Typical Finland's churches are very nice

Also the cemetery is very beautiful !

Tervetuloa !

Moi everyone !

My name is Simona and I'm French. I work as a volunteer in a music school in Finland. I decided to do this blog to show you my work and how I live here (well, I guess million people will follow this blog everyday because of my incredible life).

I'm doing an European Voluntary Service. I don't have salary but I'm hosting for free and I receive every month money for food and pocket money. So if you want to travel in an European country for almost free, and if you are between 18 and 30 years old, DO AN EVS !!

So, let's talk about the school :), as I said, it's a music school called "Varsinais-Suomen Kansanopisto". I'm proud of me because now I can say it naturally, but for a poor little French I am, the first time I read this name it was impossible for me to remember it !

Kansanopisto is quite a little school, there's about 50 students in all, so it's more like a big house for us than a school ;)

There are music classes (woah, amazing !), one theatre class and one class for young disabled. There are also some personal courses, for singing for example.

"Päätalo", the main building of the school, my room is also there.

An other building, "Inkilä", there are the Music Technology class and the Theatre class.

So as you can see, this is REALLY beautiful :) The first day I came in Finland I though I was dreaming. I remember when my supervisor took me up at the airport, when I was sitting in her car, we were only in the highway and I was "Oh my God, this is so beautiful !!"... well, change from Paris to Finland in the same day is quite a shock...
